The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series from the beloved role-playing group, revealed a new introductory sequence. It features our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and taking names, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching backstories for characters such as Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

All in all, the intro appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the song choice.

The intro uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional song composed by artist the talented musician. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one released by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I believe that fans of the second campaign will love its presence.

Personally, The series' intro fails to capture the excitement and energy that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in 2015, and it improved further when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes in my opinion. It's an impressive composition, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, the creators has already said that the series will have some surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be one of them.
