Fresh Details Come to Light Regarding the Location of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
New information has come to light concerning the shocking deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence home on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account referencing a confidential source, a therapist arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
Upon entering the house, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Clarifications
The confidential informant also disputed several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
The source also refuted published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation includes reports of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
