Fans Demand Custody of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are urging that a individual who breached a barrier and seized the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip reveals the individual from Australia pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents revealed that he was due to appear on the next day. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
Record of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram account features recordings of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney concert in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," stated an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Well-being
Several supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another message on Instagram.
Some fans also faulted guards at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while some demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In videos circulating online, Grande looked surprised when she was approached by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of attendees had assembled in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a two-part adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End show Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected bond between two contrasting sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and received a dozen Oscar nominations, winning two for outstanding attire and production design.
