Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents outline the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
